Reagents for the Multiple Electrode Aggregometry

Multi-electrode aggregometry (MEA) is a method for determining platelet function in whole blood [1,2]. The electrical resistance, the impedance, is measured between two electrodes.

After adding various inductors, platelets are deposited on electrodes immersed in the blood sample during the measurement. The impedance between the electrodes during the deposition and aggregation of the platelets is measured and graphically recorded [3]. The results are expressed in so-called aggregation units (AU) [4].
The test can be used to monitor anti-aggregation therapy and to determine platelet function. [5]
