Test for the screening of lupus anticoagulants (LA) in plasma.

Test principle

Lupus anticoagulants are determined according to the DRVVT method (Dilute Russell’s Viper Venom Time). Russell’s Viper Venom (RVV) activates factors X and V, which is followed by the activation of prothrombin to thrombin in the presence of calcium ions and phos-pholipids. The coagulatory active phospholipids are inhibited in the presence of lupus anticoagulants, i.e. the thrombin formation is inhibited and the coagulation time is prolonged in comparison to normal plasma.
