The Surface Activated Clotting Time (SACT) is a broad screening method for the detection of circulating lupus anticoagulants.
Test principle
The Surface Activated Clotting Time is based on activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT) with aluminium silicate mineral as surface activator, without added phospholipids. SACT responds very sensitively to coagulatory disorders. For a specific determination of lupus anticoagulants is a plasma mixing study with 50:50 and 20:80 ratios (patient plasma:normal plasma) performed.
